Praxidice combines the collegiality of a small firm with the challenges and complexities of representing clients in multi-million dollar transactions and lawsuits. Yet we believe a healthy balance of work and leisure promotes happy employees and, in turn, satisfied clients.
We are always seeking the addition of qualified lateral attorneys with outstanding academic records, extraordinary work habits, and a demonstrated track record of personal and professional successes. But success in a resort community like ours requires something more. It requires a sense of spirit and entrepreneurship. It requires a desire to live, work and play in a mountain resort community, coupled with a willingness to make the sacrifices that come with that choice. It isn’t for everyone, but for the attorney seeking the ultimate balance of a sophisticated legal practice tempered by an unparalleled resort life-style, we can provide what others only dream of.
We can talk in generalities about life at Praxidice — a sense of collegiality, a commitment to team work and training, a healthy balance of work and play — and while we have all that, we know you’ve heard it all before. So here are the facts:
Practicing law in a small town doesn’t make one a small town lawyer. Our attorneys work every day with highly sophisticated clients on multi-million dollar projects.
Clients expect the best legal services at the most cost-effective rates. Praxidice meets these expectations by quickly developing core competencies with exposure to substantial, hands-on experience early in your career.
We choose to live and work in Aspen because…well, it’s Aspen. So we strongly encourage everyone at our firm to find that balance of providing personal pursuits. The firm’s reasonable work requirements and slope-side location allow personnel to pursue family, community and other professional endeavors.
Praxidice seeks to hire attorneys who are interested in a collegial place to practice law and who demonstrate the potential to ultimately join the firm as a partner. Unlike many firms, attorneys may be considered for partnership as soon as they satisfy the firm’s criteria for admission. The firm does not have an arbitrary time period that associates must work prior to consideration.
Praxidice rewards all attorneys for their efforts to generate new business, offering a “Business Origination” bonus designed to incentivize every attorney to generate new work that contributes to the profits of the firm. In this way, everyone attorney is given the opportunity to share in that sense and pride of “ownership” by participating in a share of the profits for revenue you generate, even if you aren’t an equity partner.
Praxidice offers a competitive benefits package for the well being and financial security of its employees. Some of the many programs that the firm provides include “Lifestyle” compensation options for attorneys, dental and vision plans, life and disability insurance, ski passes, liberal paid time off, sabbaticals, moving expenses, maternity/paternity leave, overnight dependent care, snow/ski days, health club memberships, and professional allowances for association dues, fees and activities. We love where we live, so we encourage each employee to take full advantage of the Aspen lifestyle. It’s everything you expect from an organization that is focused entirely on its people.
Attorneys at Praxidice enjoy a unique “Lifestyle” compensation package that seeks to blend the collaborative culture of lockstep compensation programs with merit based incentive pay that rewards individual performance, profitability and productivity. The Firm offers a lucrative pay scale allowing attorneys to recognize a significant percentage of their billable revenue, with additional year-end bonuses for exceeding selected benchmarks. Pay is based on meritocracy, tying financial compensation to financial contribution.
The compensation formula is designed to meet the varying and often conflicting needs of attorneys and the law firm as a business. By vesting each attorney with the obligation to assume “ownership” over his or her time and work, the firm is able to reward those who excel without subsidizing those who create shortfalls or liabilities. Each attorney, meanwhile, is offered the rare opportunity of choosing how much they want to earn in any given year. The system is intended to serve two basic purposes — first, to permit all attorneys to share in the Firm’s revenues which they helped generate, and second, to provide a flexible compensation system that accommodates both those attorneys who work long hours and those who make life style choices to trade-off more work (and more money) for the opportunity to spend time on other opportunities and passions.
The choice of a lawyer is an important decision and should not be based solely upon advertisements.
Past results afford no guarantee of future results. Every case is different and must be judged on its own merits.
